Juan Carlos Salas is an Independent Architect from Spain who developed his professional career around four different countries: Spain (Saragossa), USA (New York), Germany (Berlin) and Poland (Warsaw). Graduated in 2009 from Valencia Polytechnic University and Licensed Architect of Aragón Chapter COAA since 2010 (Official Association of Architects of Spain).
Juan Carlos Salas is developing a concept of architecture based on the design of pure shapes made of naked materials to model and filter the incoming light, in order to build expressive and suggestive spaces for the human perception. The programmatic innovation is a substantial piece of this philosophy. Indeed, this exposed sincerity should be followed by an efficient service to the changing necessities of users."
"Booklamp is an ambient lighting system made from a rigid frame of lacquered metal and a crumpled paper screen. A concept of interaction of opposite materials (solid-soft, opaque-translucent, dark-lightened) represents the paradox of the attraction for contradictory elements.
